Year 7, your French work will be on display to the public at Dereham Windmill throughout March 2016. Please check the Windmill’s website for opening hours. They also make a small charge. The public will be able to see the artwork you created, along with the description and your artist’s biography in French. You will have taken home a letter inviting you and your parents and other carers to the Vernissage on Thursday 3rd March from 4.30 to 5.15. Please bring your family along to admire your work! Photos to follow soon!
Your teachers will be putting you into teams: Le Mans, Bordeaux, Paris, Nice. They will be giving you the first set of words to learn. For the first five rounds, the competition will be in class. The final (later in the year) will be live on stage. You can get an idea by clicking here.
If you click the link to the Vocabulary Competition page at the top of this blog, you will find more details. Importantly, you will also find a document containing an mp3 file to make sure you know how to pronounce the words. When you open the document, click on “Enable Content” at the top, then double click on the mp3 file.
If not, then click here for the Northgate High website. Look for the Quick Link for Show My Homework. Then you can find the sound file under Year 7 French homework.

The French Art Exhibition at Dereham Windmill: Last Chance to see it this weekend!
Well done to all the Teams in the Are you smarter than competition, led by the International Leaders. A very close competition with several teams topping the board. Congratulations to… Paris and Mrs Brook who take home the trophy!
There is now a handy link to a document called ‘French Revise’ in your Year 11 area. It is full of revision websites you can visit over the next few weeks to top up your work in lessons. It is never too late to do a little more revision so give them a go. Remember to focus upon memorising vocabulary and practicing question styles you know you find difficult… You should also think about getting out your earphones and getting in some listening practice.
Good luck and remember – LA1 is always avaliable for you to drop into for tips and extra practice at break, lunchtime or after school.
Keep going – you’re almost there
Thank you to everyone who came to the Year 7 Exhibition Vernissage at Dereham Windmill. If you couldn’t make it, the exhibition is there until the 25th March. The Windmill is open Wedesdays and Weekends from 10.30 to 3.30. It’s a lovely exhibition, and if your French work is on display (all 160 pupils in Year 7) then you get in free and your parents only pay £1 entry to the windmill.
